Chemical & Biological Engineering Building/Clean Energy Research Centre

The Chemical and Biological Engineering Building was one of three projects eligible for capital funding under the Province of BC’s Doubling the Opportunity (DTO) initiative to increase enrolment and graduates in the Engineering and Science disciplines.

The 123,000sf building includes two integrated components; a replacement facility for the Chemistry and Biological Engineering Department (CHBE), previously spread over multiple locations on campus; and a new facility for the CFI-funded Clean Energy Research Centre (CERC).

This replacement facility for CHBE is a critical component for the continued success of the Chemical Engineering program. CERC houses a multidisciplinary research hub dedicated to world-class clean energy research, training, development and demonstrations. The work in this building will impact climate change and sustainability problems.
