BCR9 fallen scaffolding

Scaffolding was installed in November 2022 on the East face of the BCR9 development site in Wesbrook Place for external building face construction. The scaffolding was engineered, installed, inspected, and approved.

In January 2023, added weather protection was installed on the upper levels of the scaffolding, which enabled work to proceed through the winter. Independent engineers reviewed and approved this addition, ensuring compliance and added safety measures.

On the night of February 13, 2023, the upper section of the scaffolding failed to withstand the high winds. No one was in the vicinity or injured. WorkSafeBC is aware, and an investigation by the construction team and engineers is ongoing. UBC Properties Trust regards construction site safety as our utmost priority.
